The 2027 AEJMC Logo Contest showcases the creativity of our students and inspiration of our faculty

Visual communication tells a story, and for most organizations, it begins with a logo. Instructors are encouraged to challenge their students to design and develop a logo promoting AEJMC's 2027 conference in Chicago. It's a big-shouldered task, but the windy city is ripe with narratives and potential iconography. From Wrigley and the Cloud Gate, to lofty architecture and deep-dish, the 2027 conference logo will provide a bridge to the next iteration of AEJMC's signature event.

The winner will enjoy the exposure of a nationally visible design, a substantive addition to their CV, recognition at the Visual Communication Division meeting at the 2026 Conference in New Orleans, and a $250 award.

Logos must:

  • Include AEJMC as an integral part of the logo.
  • Represent the diversity of AEJMC and visually suggest “Chicago.”
  • Include the following typographic elements: "AEJMC," "August 2027," and "Chicago. No other typographic elements are allowed.
  • Be designed as solid black on a white background. No tints, blends, or gradations.
  • Be legible and effective when scaled for different executions
  • Retain a sense of balance and internal integrity when typographical elements are removed.
  • NOT INCLUDE COPYRIGHTED ARTWORK. No clip art. All elements must be student creations.

File requirements:

  • Convert type to outlines.
  • Name the file using the entrant’s last name and first initial (smithd.png). If a student has more than one entry, add a sequence number after the first initial (smithd2.png)
  • Submit the logo as both an EPS file and a PNG file.

Entry requirements:

  • Entries must be the work of students enrolled in classes taught by AEJMC members.
  • Entries must be submitted by a faculty sponsor. Student submissions sent directly to the competition chair will not be accepted.
  • Each school may enter up to 10 logos per design instructor.
  • Faculty sponsors must also include a Word doc with their name and full contact information at the top of the page and include the following student information for each entry: full name, file name, email address, and phone number.
  • Send logo entries to AEJMC 2027 Logo Competition Chair Matthew E. Martin at m.e.martin@usm.edu, with the subject line “AEJMC 2027 Logo Competition Entry.”
  • Entries must be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. ET, May 1, 2025.

Note: The logo chair may request the winning designer make minor changes. AEJMC reserves the right to add color to the winning logo.
