The PF&R committee is currently calling for items for our 2023 Spring Semester of Service showcase. Following the Spring Semester of Service tradition for PRD, we would like to highlight our members’ service-learning and community-engaged learning pedagogical experiences.
The 2023 Spring Semester of Service takes place between the Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Monday, January 16, 2023) and National Volunteer Week (April 16-22, 2023), and we welcome our members to share their experience of any type of service-learning and community-engaged learning during the Spring semester. These activities may include:
-
Your pedagogical approach to service learning in different teaching modalities (e.g., in-person, hybrid, hyflex, remote)
-
Assignments related to service learning and community engagement
-
Student learning experience and outcomes (e.g., work products, client/community partner feedback)
-
Challenges and lessons learned
-
Best practices for service and community-engaged learning
-
Innovative approaches, new ideas, adapting to the uncertain and volatile times, and more
We welcome you to share your experiences and stories with us! If you’d like to be included in our showcase, please share your materials with Virginia Harrison (vsharri@clemson.edu) or Melissa Adams (adamsmb2@appstate.edu) by Monday, March 6, 2023. The materials could range from brief descriptions, examples of assignments and student work products, learning outcomes, to your personal reflections. We will be sharing these stories with our PRD members to support, uplift, and empower one another. New this year, we also plan to host a Virtual Brown Bag in April for showcase participants to speak with PRD members about their work.
