Associate Dean of Research and Faculty Affairs
Job Summary:
The Associate Dean of Research and Faculty Affairs in the School of Journalism and New Media reports to the Dean and is responsible for providing leadership and management of all School activities concerning research, creative/activity scholarship and related external support, as well as supporting key faculty development activities.

The Associate Dean of Research and Faculty Affairs in the School of Journalism and New Media reports to the Dean and is responsible for providing leadership and management of all School activities concerning research, creative/activity scholarship and related external support, as well as supporting key faculty development activities.
Successful candidates will have previous leadership experience, a reputation for collaborative problem solving, a knack for creative thinking, and the desire and ability to take initiative.
The AD position is a 12-month appointment with some teaching responsibilities.

Job Responsibilities:
The AD position is a 12-month appointment with some teaching responsibilities.
Sample Research Duties
- Provide research and grant support and training
- Pursue and coordinate research initiatives and development
- Facilitate collaborative research between the School’s academic departments and the Jordan Center for Journalism Advocacy and Effectiveness
- Coordinate and supervise research reporting, compliance and assessment
- Serve as liaison with the Office of Research and Economic Development and other central offices
- Facilitate interdisciplinary research collaborations
- Promote undergraduate and graduate research
- Draft and implement a research and creative activity strategic plan for the School
Sample Faculty Affairs Duties
- Coordinate recruitment, orientation, and mentoring, including adjuncts
- Manage processes related to faculty development, including tenure and promotion and assessment
- Oversee faculty awards and recognition programs
- Coordinate and supervise research reporting, compliance and assessment
Requirements:
- Candidate must have tenure or be eligible for appointment with tenure at the Associate or Full level in a department in the School of Journalism and New Media
- Ph.D. in a field related to the areas of expertise in the School (ex. communication, journalism, strategic communication, ex.)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated success in securing external funding and managing sponsored research programs.
- Substantial experience in budget development and financial management in an academic setting.
- Experience with interdisciplinary research and collaboration
