About the AEJMC/ASJMC Human Resources Committee

Purpose:

The AEJMC/ASJMC Human Resources Committee was created as a permanent human resource committee to fulfill the association’s commitment to sustain a workplace that thrives on talent, leadership, innovation, collaboration, belonging, and professionalism.  Chaired by the AEJMC vice-president, the HR committee will advance AEJMC’s commitment to a fulfilling and engaging. employment experience for AEJMC’s Office Staff.

Role of Committee Members:

The Human Resources Subcommittee is responsible for assessing and supporting the overall functioning and optimal operation of the association and the AEJMC Central Office. Each year, the subcommittee conducts surveys of office staff to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement in organizational effectiveness. It also coordinates and conducts the annual performance review of the Executive Director, ensuring accountability and professional growth. Based on its findings, the subcommittee recommends to the AEJMC Board any actions necessary to strengthen the Central Office’s performance and operations. In addition, it examines long-term human resources issues, such as evaluating the adequacy of employee benefits and ensuring equitable and sustainable staff support. Because the AEJMC Central Office also serves the Association of Schools of Journalism and Mass Communication (ASJMC), the HR Subcommittee may seek input from the ASJMC President and Executive Committee to advance their shared mission of promoting excellence in journalism and mass communication education.
