Tenure-Track Faculty Positions — School of Communication, Film, and Media
The School of Communication, Film, and Media (SCFM) at the University of West Georgia invites applications for three full-time tenure-track positions to begin August 1, 2026. Positions are available in:
- Public Relations & Strategic Communication (Assistant or Associate Professor)
- Digital Media & Entertainment (Assistant Professor)
- Film & Video Production (Assistant Professor)

Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.
Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Position Expectations
Successful candidates will teach undergraduate and graduate courses aligned with their expertise. Areas of emphasis include:
- Public Relations & Strategic Communication: PR principles, writing across media, campaigns, management, analytics, digital strategy, storytelling, or theory.
- Digital Media & Entertainment: Content creation, digital strategy and promotions, AI in media, analytics, storytelling, or digital production.
- Film & Video Production: Cinematography, editing, directing, screenwriting, sound design, producing, and documentary or advanced production.
All positions may also teach core or cross-disciplinary courses (e.g., media law, ethics, diversity, research methods, and theory). Candidates are expected to maintain an active record of scholarship, creative work, or professional practice and contribute to service at the School, University, and community levels.
Qualifications
- Required:
- Terminal degree (Ph.D. or M.F.A.) in a relevant discipline.
- Minimum three years of professional experience.
- Record of scholarship and service commensurate with rank.
- Preferred:
- Experience teaching in-person, hybrid, and online formats.
- Expertise with Adobe Creative Cloud and related media tools.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusive communication.
- Evidence of collaboration and leadership in academic or professional settings.
- For Associate rank: record of publications, program leadership, and grant or fund development experience.
Compensation
Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, pending funding availability.
