Instructional Assistant Professor of Integrated Marketing Communications

The School of Journalism and New Media at the University of Mississippi invites applications for one nine-month instructional assistant professor position of Integrated Marketing Communications starting August 2026. This position is a full-time, non-tenure track position.

The candidate may be asked to teach a wide-variety of IMC courses, including core courses like public relations or advertising principles, writing, research, and campaigns, as well as specialized courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The teaching load is 4-4, and teaching responsibilities may include face-to-face or online courses. The candidate should also be able to serve as faculty advisor on our chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and/or advise students in competitions like the PRSSA Bateman competition or the AAF NSAC competition. 

The candidate is expected to serve as an active member of the School of Journalism and New Media and the University of Mississippi community and may serve on honors student or  graduate student committees.The appointment is 80% teaching and 20% service. 

Department of Integrated Marketing Communications

The Integrated Marketing Communications Major at the University of Mississippi is one of the largest majors on campus with over 1600 undergraduate students and over 200 graduate students. The IMC Department comprises 14 full-time tenure-track/tenured and instructional faculty. Our mission is to develop IMC professionals that are strategic communicators, ethical decision makers, and globally conscious world citizens. We have recently launched a student agency and a student research journal, and we also sponsor events that bring hundreds to campus.

Required Qualifications:

Candidates will be evaluated based on the following:

A graduate degree (Ph.D., M.A.) in communication, public relations, advertising or related field. A Ph.D. is preferred.
