The School of Communication at Florida State University (FSU) invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position specializing in science communication. We seek candidates who approach this topic from a wide variety of methodologies, including qualitative, quantitative, and/or critical scholars.

FSU’s School of Communication has a long-standing reputation for providing cutting-edge research, teaching excellence, and public outreach that influence and lead the field of communication and related industries. The successful candidate will have a strong record of scholarship in science communication, demonstrated through high-quality publications.

Successful candidates will be asked to teach two courses per semester.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research focused on applied and/or theoretical issues in science communication.
  • Seek extramural funding to support a successful research agenda.
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the School of Communication, with opportunities to develop new courses in areas of expertise.
  • Engage in service to the School, University, and academic community.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Communication, Information Science, and/or related field is required. ABD candidates will be considered if their degree will be conferred by August 2026.

Considerations:

This is a Faculty position.

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check.
