School of Communication and Journalism Faculty Vacancy
The School of Communication and Journalism at Eastern Illinois University seeks candidates for an annually contracted Journalism Instructor whose primary duties will include teaching courses relating to sports media.
Qualifications
Candidates should possess a master’s degree in journalism or a related field and have college teaching experience. The ideal candidate will also have professional journalistic experience and possess strong communication skills. Candidates should have demonstrated potential to teach undergraduate students in sports media relations, sports writing, and news reporting and writing. An ability and/or interest in teaching digital and social media journalism and database journalism is welcome.
Salary/Pay Rate Range
$6,670 to $7,450 per month depending upon qualifications

The School of Communication and Journalism houses academic divisions devoted to Communication Studies and Journalism. The Division of Journalism is accredited by the ACEJMC. We are comprised of 16 tenured/tenure-track and nine annually contracted faculty. The school offers five undergraduate degree programs in Journalism, Communication Studies, Health Communication, Public Relations, and TV/Video Production along with a master’s degree in Communication Studies. We are a vibrant academic community of approximately 250 majors. The school is one of the largest academic units on campus.
