Mission

Welcome to the AEJMC IC Division!
International Communication is one of the largest divisions of the AEJMC. Our +250 members are scholars and educators representing institutions of higher education from around the world.

The International Communication Division was launched in 1965. The division’s main focus has been the study of processes and effects of mass communication in the international arena. ICD has expanded its interests that now embrace the discourses of international and global as they pertain to journalism and media.

The object of this organization is to promote research, teaching and public service activities in international communication.

The ICD advances international communication goals through:

  1. Research paper competitions and awards for faculty and graduate students at our annual conference Sponsorship of International Communication Research Journal.
  2. Awards for best teaching practices in international communication.
  3. Multiple teaching panels, a syllabus exchange and other teaching resources
  4. Multimedia International Journalism Awards honoring top work created by students using cutting edge technologies.
  5. A membership newsletter.
  6. Special programs to promote diversity among our members via our liaison network of scholars for every region of the world.
  7. INTC collaborates effectively with other divisions and interest groups of AEJMC,
offering members the opportunity of interdisciplinary work, helping meet diverse needs through regional meetings and specialized panels devoted to specific areas of international communication.
