Volume 8, Number 1, 2018
EDITOR’S NOTE
by Cathy Strong
Enjoy the research, articles, and book reviews in the current issue, which are all relevant to those teaching journalism and mass communication in the 21st century.
This issue includes several robust articles on teaching online, in light of the growing number of colleges turning to this mode of education delivery. One study looks at an online crisis communication exercise, and two other articles studied the best way to integrate videos into teaching.
Quality check your own teaching by reading the article on the need to address working-class diversity in the classroom, and the article on infusing diversity across the curriculum.
Enjoy the odd twist in the conclusion of using Google Goggles in a journalism course, and how an oral history course differs from an audio journalism course.
A big thank-you to the dedicated academics who volunteer as reviewers, copyeditors, and advisers. A special warm thank-you to the highly professional dedication of the journal’s designer Jon Bekken and web designer Mitzi Lewis.
