EDITOR’S NOTE
This journal has just completed its tenth year in existence, and it’s been a wonderful decade for producing academic documents directly affecting educators of mass communication. I’ve had the honor of being editor four years, and I am gobsmacked by the innovative articles we received each issue. (I wheedled in that word to give you a giggle; in British English “gob” is your mouth.) We appreciate the continued strong support we get from authors, reviewers, copy editors, editorial staff, previous editors, SPIG and AEJMC.
Teaching mass communication is getting more challenging for educators, with the constant changing industrial environment, as well as the current on-campus changes due to the COVID pandemic protections. Educators need to be able to alter their curriculum and course outlines in line with the needs of the students. As editor of TJMC I am amazed at the innovative ways our educators face their tasks. It’s also staggering that they take the time to analyse and assess teaching issues in order to share with colleagues via this academic journal. This journal’s editorial staff fully recognize that it would be easier for everyone to just bury their head on their desk and simply get through the tasks required day by day. So, we thoroughly appreciate educators who submit articles, and are willing to rewrite and restructure when needed.
TJMC journal has been blessed with a stable production team, despite all of us doing it voluntarily, and being spread throughout the world. Designer Jon Bekken is a dream to work with, as he is super professional, very quick, and nothing is a problem. Mitzi Lewis is the backbone of the journal and if I was physically in the USA I would hand deliver her a huge gift basket. She has been there for the entire 10 years. Kim Fox, located in Egypt, is an active leader in many professional bodies, and has successfully guided us into social media sharing of our journal articles. Review Editors Jim Sernoe and Kalen Churcher ensure readers get objective feedback on pertinent books, software, videos. Each year the head of SPIG rotates, and, like this year’s head, Jeremy Sarachan, they are always fully supportive and efficient in overseeing their journal.
Enjoy reading this issue’s articles.
