About officer selection: Leadership positions are a five-year commitment. A Southeast Colloquium chair is elected each year and serves in that position for one year. On Oct. 1 each year, each member of leadership moves up one position -- i.e., the assistant research chair moves to research chair, then vice head, then head. The secretary, the PF&R committee chair and the teaching committee chair are officer positions with open elections each year. The division head can appoint committee members and others to help operate the division.
