Distinguished Educator Award

The Distinguished Educator Award is presented annually to one MCSD member who has made a sustained and meaningful contribution to mass communication pedagogy. This prestigious award recognizes professors whose teaching demonstrates not only excellence in the classroom but also a profound and lasting impact on both their students and the discipline. Recipients of this award have meaningfully shaped students’ academic and professional trajectories—guiding career paths, cultivating critical skills and confidence, and leaving an enduring influence that extends well beyond graduation. In addition, honorees demonstrate a significant impact on pedagogy in the field through innovative teaching practices, mentorship of fellow educators, development of impactful course materials, or contributions to the scholarship of teaching and learning. Nominations from past students as well as self-nominations are welcome. The award winner will be selected by the MCS Division’s Head, Teaching Committee, and Graduate Student Liaison.
